Anna David

Description

Because of her music, her shining talent, her beautiful soulful voice and her strong personality Anna David has placed herself on the starry sky of the music scene right where she belongs. Anna is not basking in the glory, but is constantly challenging herself and therefore the next step in Anna’s musical career is to make an English language recording. The first single from the English album will be “Just Like That”, which is a super, catchy pop hit based on an old well-known hit from Olive, “You’re Not Alone”, for which Danish Remee has written completely new lyrics and thus, a genuine pop hit has come about. Anna has been able to get producer, Louis Winding, to set the sound of the times and several overseas recording companies have already proclaimed that this track could mean big things for Anna – perhaps Denmark’s answer to Ri-Anna, as they say.

On 27 April 2009, Anna David’s third Danish album was released, which she released under her own recording company.  Anna has put herself in the director’s chair and is the executive producer of the recording. This is a dream Anna has had for several years and which ensures her optimal influence. The album is written by Anna David herself and in collaboration with some of Denmark’s best song-writers and producers.

Anna David’s second Danish album, with the title “2” was released on 1 October 2007. The album contained strong singles like “No. 1”, “Chill” and “Den Lille Pige” (The Little Girl). All these tracks have gone from strength to strength through the airwaves and have been fantastically placed on the country’s hit lists. “Den Lille Pige” and “Chill” both went gold and the video for “Den Lille Pige” has been seen by more than 1 million people on YouTube.

In the summer of 2005, Anna David became known nationwide for the single “Fuck Dig” (Fuck You), which as we all know became a major hit. Anna recorded her first album with the title “Anna David”, which was released in September 2005 parallel to massive media attention. The success was overwhelming and the subsequent singles “Hva’ Nu Hvis” (What If) and “Når Musikken Spiller” (When the Music Plays) were also solid hits. Anna was nominated for a total of 10 music awards at, among others, the Danish Music Awards 2006, Zulu Awards 2005, P3 Gold 2006 and Danish Deejay Awards 2006. The album achieved gold status and the “Fuck Dig” single went platinum and was also the year’s most downloaded track in 2005. Anna David recorded “Fuck Dig” in a German version (Fick Dich) and in English (Fuck You) and has therefore already some international experience since “Fick Dich” was released in the German-speaking countries by Sony BMG in 2006. Almost 3 million people around the world have seen the video to Fick Dich/Fuck You as a result of YouTube and MyVideo and against all odds; Anna David has succeeded in conquering the single charts in both Germany and Austria as well as the European Union’s Single Sale Chart.

When Anna released “Fuck Dig”, she already had 9 years in the music industry under her belt and that Anna would be something within music was clear at an early stage. As a 4-year-old, Anna used to play the drums on the family’s pots; as an 8-year-old she began playing the piano and singing in a choir and after tough negotiations with her parents, she secured a set of drums when she turned ten. In the years that followed, Anna played in a band with her sister, Inez, who played the guitar. The sisters wrote the lyrics, Anna composed the music and when Anna was 12, they had written about 35 songs together and had planned a professional stage show.

Anna dreamed of being the world’s best female drummer and together with Inez, to captivate the world as the female counterpart of Hanson. When Anna was 13, she visited her eldest sister, Marika in Munich. One day, Anne went with Marika to singing lessons and impressed the teacher so much with her voice that, without Anna’s knowledge, she recorded a tape of Anna singing and sent the tape to various producers. There was great demand for Anna and shortly afterwards, Anna signed her first international recording contract. At the age of 14 and for the first time, she recorded in a professional sound studio and debuted as a singer in the summer of 2000 with the single “P.Y.B.” (Pretty Young Boy). Several releases followed and Anna performed in Scandinavia, the Netherlands and Germany.

But this early success was not sustainable for Anna in the long-term. She dreamed of singing in a more soul way, she dreamed of writing and producing her own music and finding a sound that was her own. After three years on contract, the relationship between Anna and her producer began to crackle. Anna did not feel that she had the space and opportunity to show her voice and Anna did not like the way in which he produced her songs. Therefore, Anna decided to end the collaboration. After the break with the German/American producer, Anna continued writing music but for a period had no one to release it.

About one year after the break with the producer, Anna rented some time in a studio in Copenhagen to record some of her songs. The studio belonged to the one half of the later nOOb producer, Erik Fryland, who was very enthusiastic about Anna’s voice and he proposed a collaboration. The two of them tried various things but they never really found a sound they were both satisfied with. Only when Erik Fryland hooked up with the other half of nOOb, Casper Lindstand a year later, something happened. Casper had an outline for a number, which Erik thought would be perfect for Anna. The three met in the studio and then suddenly everything came together: The collaboration between the three inspired everyone to perform their best. Anna was even allowed to let her voice loose. The song that resulted from the collaboration was “Fuck You”. So fuck you!
