Throughout the last year, Nabiha worked intensely on her debut album ‘Cracks’ together with the Swedish producer/writer Carl Ryden, which was released in Denmark February 1st 2010. The tracks on the album are inspired by pop, urban and electronic music the productions are on an international level, rarely seen from an artist out of Denmark. Carl and Nabiha have written and produced most of the songs on the album but also collaborated with fantastic songwriters such as; Nina Woodford (James Morrison feat. Nelly Furtado, Kylie, Leona Lewis, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Christina Milan…), Cozi Costi (Holly Valence, Jamiroquai, Booty Luv, Alex Gaudino, Sunfreakz…) and Chanelle Gstettenbauer (Terri Walker). During their first writing session, Nabiha, Carl and Cozi wrote the track “The Enemy”, which is the second single off the album in Denmark.

”Cracks” entered the official Danish Top-40 Album Chart at # 17 and on the TDC PLAY download album Top-40 ”Cracks” has so far peaked at # 7. The album has received fantastic reviews with 5-stars in several music magazines such as Gaffa, Tjeck, Sirene & Olivia and recieved 4 stars in various other well known magazines across Denmark. Nabiha has done several spectacular live performances on Danish National tv this spring – including the prestigious Zulu Awards show.

London-based Swedish producer Carl Ryden is one of the new up and coming Scandinavian producers who has managed to get a foot in the door internationally and is currently working with several major artists in the US and UK, both as a producer and songwriter. Carl Ryden believed in Nabiha from the moment they met and has invested a great deal of time in her debut album.

Most of the album was mixed by Jeremy Wheatley - a living legend - who has mastered the ability to bring out the best in the music. Jeremy Wheatley has amongst other things mixed for Royksopp feat. Robyn, Jason Mraz, James Morrison, Chris Cornell, Dido, Leona Lewis, Pet Shop Boys, Sugababes, Duffy, James Blunt, Moby, Sam Sparro, Robbie Williams, Bon Jovi, Duran Duran, Kylie, Jamelia, KLF, Human League and many more.

Nabiha is in the Danish charts right now with her first single “Deep Sleep” - a song with an incredibly strong hook focusing on “just wanting to sleep”. The middle-8 is a lullaby from Mali, which Nabiha’s mother used to sing to her when she was a child. The lyrics in the lullaby are a mix of African and French and it always put Nabiha to sleep. “Deep Sleep” is still doing fabulously on radio and the single has so far peaked at # 7 on the overall Danish airplay chart and on the official sales chart the track has so far reached # 4. Recently the “Deep Sleep” video hit more than 225,000 views on YouTube.

Things are really building up well on the live side and Nabiha has already performed at a number of huge venues including opening for James Morrison at Falconer Theatre in Copenhagen and at the Danish National Football stadium “Parken” her performance was highly praised in the review by the leading Danish music magazine Gaffa (Danish equivalent to e.g. NME). - they wrote:

”Danish Nabiha with the African roots was a strong and positive experience. She did two refreshing up-tempo songs style-wise around retro-soulish Amy Winehouse meets Duffy and modern style pluralists like M. I. A. And Santigold – and she really sang well. She’s gonna be big in 2010”.

Three singles from the album ”Deep Sleep”, “The Enemy” and “You” have been ”Song of The Day” on the British music site Popjustice.com and likewise Nabiha was ”Artist to Watch” on US site Concreteloop.com. and even though the single has so far solely been released in Denmark the interest for interviews from international press has been huge including media from Germany, Canada and France.

Nabiha has Danish and North-West African roots (Gambia, Mali and Morocco) and she was born and raised in Copenhagen as the eldest child in a family of seven. Nabiha grew up listening to disco music and soul, but at the age of five she fell in love with reggae. Later, her love turned to rock music, R’n’B and electronic music. Nabiha has been exposed to most genres and has now developed her own unique style, which is strengthened by her sublime and distinctive vocals. She possesses an energy and attitude that bewitches the listener of her music in a brilliant way.

Nabiha has a Danish manager, Mette Buhl from Pitt Buhl Management, who has been based in London for about four years now and during the last years has developed a fantastic network with the biggest English and American labels. It was Mette’s decision to put Nabiha and Carl Ryden together and from then on, a future star has been in the making.
